PANO ? More than 800 delegates from over 150 countries and territories attended the third World Forum of the International Coordination Council of Educational Institutions Alumni (Incorvuz) in Moscow, Russia, from November 28th to 30th.
The Vietnamese delegation, led by Professor and Academician Tran Dinh Long, Deputy Chairman of Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association, Chairman of Vinacorvuz and Deputy Chairman of Incorvuz, included a delegation of 20 scientists, artists and journalists.
?We are proud that today more than one million people from 160 countries in the world are effectively applying what they have learnt in our country,? said Russian President Vladimir Putin in his letter to the forum.
Many alumni of Russian colleges and universities have become senior experts, leaders of major corporations, famous politicians and social activists.
The outstanding achievements they have made are persuasive evidence for foreign citizens to continue to choose to study at Russian colleges and universities, President Putin added in the letter.
President Putin himself attended the first forum in 2003.
The four main topics that the delegates from different countries and continents focused their discussions on within the framework of the forum were: Strengthening multi-faceted relations between ministries, branches, businesses, professional and social organizations and their counterparts in other countries; Promoting Russian teaching and introducing Russian culture in other countries; Continuing to facilitate foreign student?s studies at Russian educational institutions, contributing to training high-quality human resource for other countries; and Enhancing the relations among organizations, federations and alumni clubs in Russia and different countries to tighten the relationship between the alumni and their former educational institutions, teachers and friends, which will also help diversify meetings and information sharing among alumni.
In his speech at the official discussion section of the forum, Professor Tran Dinh Long, on behalf of the Vietnamese delegates to the forum, expressed the gratitude of generations of Vietnamese alumni to the U.S.S.R and Russia for the training of tens of thousands of people in different jobs, providing vital human resources for Vietnam in its cause of liberating, defending and building the country.
According to Professor Tran Dinh Long, many Vietnamese people who have studied in the U.S.S.R and Russia have become high-ranking leaders, politicians, culturists, artists, scientists, etc., who have greatly contributed to the country and strengthening the friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and the U.S.S.R, Russia and SNG countries.
The Vietnamese professor also said that about 6,000 Vietnamese students are studying at Russian educational institutions and each year, about 500 to 600 new Vietnamese students go to Russia to study.
?This is building the young human resources that play an important and direct role in Vietnam?s industrialization and modernization in the upcoming time,? he said.
With the expectation to increase the roles of the alumni in promoting the friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Russia and other countries, the Vietnamese delegation proposed continuing to finalize the database of alumni to facilitate the relationship between the alumni and their former teachers and educational institutions, and among the alumni themselves.
Other proposals from the Vietnamese delegation include finalizing the organization and renewing the activities of alumni organizations in different countries and regions to make them more practical and effective; considering the establishment of an alumni association in ASEAN; setting up the Alumni House in Moscow; boosting Russian teaching in Vietnam; improving the teaching Russian language at Vietnamese educational institutions and introducing Russian literature and culture in Vietnam.
Vietnam initiated the establishment of the Incorvuz forum and this initiative was approved by President Putin. The country itself successfully hosted the meeting of Asian alumni in 2005 and has good relations with many alumni organizations. Therefore, Vietnam?s proposals were welcomed by many delegates from different countries at the forum.
The forum urged alumni organizations to continue to consolidate relationships among alumni and organizations; promote friendship exchanges and cooperation with Russian educational institutions; popularize Russian language and Russian influence in countries and regions for peace, friendship, and multi-faceted cooperation with Russia, for the common interests of different nations.
